Our Team – Sunshine Family

We all bring a bit of something and everything to Team Sunshine!

As you can see below, our team is highly qualified, over and above any legal requirements, are all paediatric first aid trained and continually take part in further training and development.

Due to Sunshine offering spaces for up to 24 children at any one time means that our adult to child ratios exceed minimum requirements.

Andrea AKA ‘Mother Hen’

Andrea has been the Manager of Sunshine since 2018 after running the Pre-school at our ‘sister’ setting of Dolphin Pre-school and Nursery for 5 years.

Prior to this she has been in childcare for a considerable number of years bringing a wealth of experience along with a larger than life smile, a lot of laughter and a hug when needed.

Andrea is also Safeguarding lead and SENCo at Sunshine. In her spare time Andrea can mostly be found at Exmouth Rugby Club either cheering her son on from the side-line or organising memberships, administrations, socials or in the kitchen serving!

Gabs AKA ‘Our Own Banksy’

Gabs has been at Sunshine the longest of the team, having first joined on student placement and then as an apprentice whilst she studied for her Level 3 at Exeter College.

Gabs has a never-ending treasure trove of ideas and is the artist of the setting. Since 2018 Gabs has shown an interest and affinity towards helping children with SEN whether as a one-to-one or small group support and is constantly building upon her knowledge in this area. She also loves working with her mum, Andrea although she didn’t actually write that!

In her spare time Gabs enjoys walking, watching movies, drawing and is known to make a Tik Tok or two!

Barnaby AKA ‘Mr Spontaneous!’

Barnaby is our most recent member of the team but brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and a few new dance moves to Sunshine having started his childcare journey when he was 17 years old. He firstly joined Dolphin in 2019 before we ‘poached’ him to Sunshine where his boundless energy and spontaneity has endeared him as a role model.

Outside of Sunshine his adventurous streak continues whether visiting new places, walking along his favourite trails with his faithful dogs or kayaking on the beach. He is also the biggest football fan and staunch supporter of Liverpool FC but we don’t hold that against him!

Tori AKA ‘Miss Adventure’

Tori joined Sunshine in 2018 after relocating from Plymouth where she worked for over 10 years in a setting which catered for children of all ages and was very much based around ‘outdoors learning’.

Tori has a great understanding of children that need more support in a setting having learnt from her own experiences growing up and can easily adapt activities to suit their needs.  She is the one that our more adventurous children go to and her boundless energy and enthusiasm is contagious!

In her spare time Tori loves to be out on her boat, horse-riding, catching up with friends or even out driving in their monster truck!
